Federal Staffing Specialist – National Quals

Location: Remote

As a member of the Managed Services team the Federal HR Staffing Specialist will provide professional support and/or technical assistance in areas of Federal Staffing/Qualifications.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Apply OPM, Agency guidance, Veteran’s Preference requirement when reviewing the DD214 to adjudicate Veterans Preference. Completion of Veterans worksheet for each applicant claiming veterans preference.
  • Knowledge of Priority Eligibilities such as ICTAP/CTAP/RPL in order to adjudicate eligibility
  • Follows OPM regulations an Agency policy and guidance, and worksheets provided (i.e., Pathways Programs, Demo, DHA, Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act, (LMWFA), and government-wide/internal Merit Promotion in order to perform qualification reviews).
  • Adjudicate Veteran’s Recruitment Act, Veteran’s Employment Opportunity Act, OPM Interchange Agreements, and other government Hiring Authorities as requested.
  • Update eligibility in USAS and add detailed qualification analysis notes in order for a third party to review and understand how the applicant was assessed, to include USAS Notice of Results (NOR) message codes for each Applicant record.
  • Knowledge of applying (SAA) Superior Academic Achievement
  • Knowledge on reading college transcripts to determine OPM Basic Education Requirement/Applying OPM Quals standard
  • Knowledge on reviewing (SF) Standard Form 50 to determine applicant status to determine if applicant is eligible for Fed Comp/Fed-Non-Comp
  • Ability to work in a faced pace environment with high volume Qualification reviews, and short turnaround. Ability to be flexible with shifting work priorities.
  • Working knowledge in using USAS, to create applicant list based on competitive and non-competitive eligibilities filters.
  • Knowledge of how to determine Time-In-Grade.

Required Experience:

  • 5 years of experience as a Federal Staffing Specialist.

Preferred Experience

  • DEU Certified
